Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation

Completed 2009

I knew we could work with HPS from the moment I met the team. When we described our work and what we wanted from our new office space, they listened. HPS designed a building that exceeded our expectations. It helps us do our work better, it’s environmentally responsible, and it’s beautiful.

The Moore Foundation's new headquarters in Palo Alto opened for business February 2009. The 62,000 s.f. interior renovation is LEED Platinum. Sustainable features include the use of reclaimed and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified wood throughout the building and in the furniture, as well as extensive use of recycled and rapidly renewable materials. An innovative light reflecting, sound absorbing system of ceiling "leaves" defines the collaborative team work areas. The curving "Moore Path", with an undulating ceiling of salvaged timbers, connects the separate wings of the building and unifies the staff. A glass bridge provides a dramatic entry into the offices.
